CRAFT Group
What is the purpose of the CRAFT Group?
CRAFT stands for community reinforcement and family training and is based on behaviour therapy. It is designed to give people skills in understanding and influencing change in a family member or friend who is drinking or drug taking. CRAFT has three goals:
1) Encouraging the substance user to reduce or abstain
2) Supporting them to access treatment
3) Enhancing your own quality of life.
The CRAFT Group enables you to:
• Share the problems you are experiencing with a family member or friend who is drinking or drug taking with people in a similar situation and support each other
• Learn about the CRAFT approach which is an effective way of influencing change in people who are drinking or drug taking.
Sessions will be delivered online. Each session will have a presentation and discussion of a theme related to the CRAFT Approach, supplemented with handouts, skills development, group sharing and processing of blocks to change and encouragement to practice the CRAFT Approach at home.
Some topics covered during the Group:
• Positive communication
• Identifying triggers and signs of substance use
• How to recognise and reinforce non-using behaviour
• Self-care and barriers to this.
90 minute online group sessions over 7 sessions £200.
